چکیده
Abstract. Offline advection schemes allow for low-computational-cost simulations using existing model output. This study presents the approach and assessment passive offline tracer within Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS). An advantage of running code ROMS itself is consistency in numerics on- offline. We find that robust: after about 14 d simulation (almost 60 units time normalized by timescale), skill score comparing output to online TS_U3HADVECTION TS_C4VADVECTION (third-order upstream horizontal fourth-order centered vertical advection) 99.6 % accurate an step 20 times larger than as well saved with a period below timescale. For MPDATA scheme, accuracy more variable forcing input frequency choices, but it still over 99 many reasonable choices. Both are conservative. Important factors maintaining high outputting from often enough resolve timescale, realistic salinity diffusivity values simulation, double precision save results.

Lake Victoria provides important ecosystem services including transport, water for domestic and industrial uses and fisheries to about 33 million inhabitants in three East African countries. The lake plays an important role in modulating regional climate. Its thermodynamics and hydrodynamics are also influenced by prevailing climatic and weather conditions on diel, seasonal and annual scales. H...

متن کاملInteractive Visualization of Regional Ocean Modeling System
This paper presents techniques for interactive visualization of the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS), a free-surface, terrain-following coordinate ocean circulation model. We have designed an interactive visualization program that allows a casual user to control the forcing conditions applied to ROMS using a graphical user interface and observe the results in real-time. We modified portion...
متن کاملSubmesoscale Flows and Mixing in the Oceanic Surface Layer Using the Regional Oceanic Modeling System (ROMS)
The long-term goals of this project are to further the insight into the dynamics of submesoscale flow in the oceanic surface layer. Using the Regional Oceanic Modeling System (ROMS), we aim to understand the impact of submesoscale processes on tracer mixing at small scales and the transfer of energy towards the dissipative scales of non-geostrophic turbulence. An advanced understanding of surfa...
